Unfortunately, we didn't have any Anwarriors present to give us a review of this concert.  We did, however, through internet searches, come up with some photos and quotes about the concert.

This was a two-day event sponsored by Six Flags New England.  As well as Anwar performing, the show featured LaToya London, season 3; Justin Guarini, season 1; and Kimberly Locke, season 2.  Each finalist participated in a parade through the park, a question and answer session, and each performed at a concert.

The events of the day were hosted by Dana McKay, a DJ for 96.5 TIC-FM, Hartford Connecticut.  Dana said she was "nervous about hosting the show and interviewing them, but everything went REALLY well," and "They were all really nice and it doesn't seem like fame's gotten to their heads at all... I had a BLAST!!!"

The caption under her photograph with Anwar states that "Anwar Robinson was really cool too!  He apparently thought about going back to being a music teacher after American Idol but they told him - we don't want you to come back, we want you to make an album!"

This is a quote made by Brett
who was at the concert:

"I got to meet Anwar yesterday. I have to say, I really didn't like him all that much on 'Idol.' I just didn't feel his performances and he didn't stick out to me. But I went to a concert featuring himself, Kimberley Locke, La Toya London and Justin Guarini -- and Anwar was really great!  He has great, smooth vocals and he performed excellent live. Let alone, he stood and signed autographs after the show and was nothing but kind and precise. I really like Anwar now!"

question & answer session.

Click the video link below if you'd like to see an incredibly brief bit of Anwar in the Question and Answer session.  This video was made by a Justin G. fan and she edited out all of the other Idols, showing only Justin's answers.  However, at the 11-minute mark, Anwar is answering "with" Justin about viewing American Idol.  Also, throughout the video, you can see Anwar entering the stage and sitting with the other Idols on stage.  I've e-mailed to see if there is any video available of the entire Q&A and will make that available if I receive any.

Read Peggy's review of the taping of
the show  featuring Anwar below.
The taping was completed on
May 17, 2006.

It is quite interesting to observe how a show is taped. Segments are taped out of sequence and put back together in the editing process so what you see when the show airs on TV is a coherent end product. There are lots of retakes and bloopers and everything that is said by the host is visible in LARGE print on the teleprompters on the set.

We arrived a little late at 12:45 - we took an 11:06 train into Penn Station and then had to take two subway trains to get to the Metropolis Studio on 106th Street. After we got through a security check (cell phones turned off and cameras were not permitted), we were seated by Samantha, the show's very personable, enthusiastic audience coordinator.

There were 30 people in the audience (that's all there was room for). Some of the folks in the audience do this kind of thing on a regular basis - sitting in the audience for various talk/game shows. Kurt and I got good seats in the front row on comfy chairs and on the couch that Anwar would sit on for his brief interview with Naomi before his performance. (Obviously, we moved to other seats to clear the couch for them.) His CD (which he gave to Naomi) got a mention, too. Naomi was very sweet. Anwar saw my husband Kurt first and shook his hand. Kurt pointed out where I was sitting across the other side of the audience. We started off sitting next to each other and we were moved around several times.

Anwar sang "You Brought the Sunshine" with his backup singers (the same trio from his other gigs at Sugar Ray's and Sugar Bar). They rehearsed it once and then taped it. Anwar looked great (dressed in browns and beiges) and sounded great, too - although Damon said he wasn't feeling well. Hope Allen came over to us and thanked us for coming and brought us to Anwar's dressing room where I took the two pictures that I posted earlier.

I'm not sure when the show will air, but I'm sure that information will be posted on his upcoming performance schedule as soon as the date is announced. You will totally enjoy this performance. He had the audience clapping to the beat and all of the production staff came into the studio to see him. It was the best part of the show!

Definitely be sure to tune in for this show!!

Rita Cosby Live - MSNBC
May 10, 2006

Anwar was a guest on Rita Cosby's show on MSNBC on May 10th.  He and Kimberly Locke were there to give Rita their thoughts on the current American Idol season and the recent elimination of Chris Daughtry from the AI5 competition.

Anwar was calm and relaxed as he answered her questions.  She gave him a plug, asking him about his upcoming CD releases and showing a very nice picture of his sampler CD.

Click on this link if you'd like to view the interview, compliments of MSNBC.  The interview is posted about half-way down the left-side of the page with Chris Daughtry's picture with the title of "Idol Shocker".
